As a Pump truck Operator, you are responsible for driving a specialized truck to service septic tanks by safely locating, accessing, and pumping out waste from residential and commercial properties, ensuring proper disposal at designated facilities, while performing routine maintenance checks on the truck and equipment.

Qualifications

  • At least a Class B CDL, however, Class A CDL preferred and both need to have a tanker endorsement
  • Ability to speak, cooperate and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and management
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Knowledge of basic hand and mechanical tools
  • Must be a team player
  • Have a good attitude, good work ethic and have willingness to learn
  • Previous knowledge of septic work preferred
  • Excellent route driving skills with the ability to navigate efficiently through urban and rural areas
  • Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Work safely near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
  • Work outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold

Job Duties

  • Drive and operate trucks/equipment to complete job tasks
  • Carry out daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles
  • Secure special attachments to equipment
  • Complete driver's run sheet on a daily basis and ensure these daily run sheets are handed in at the end of each day
  • Locate septic/holding tanks/and uncover access when needed
  • Load and unload lengths of hose and assemble to appropriate length to connect tank to truck
  • Operate vacuum pump to complete pump outs
  • Constantly monitor septage levels to ensure no overloading
  • Complete visual inspections of tanks and leaching beds
  • Document jobs with pictures and notes
  • Transport effluent to transfer stations and discharge loads
  • Using proper tie-down procedures, secure materials to be transported to ensure the safety and security of the load
  • Report on the health and operating status of all equipment
  • Assist with general labor duties when needed
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times, which will be provided
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
  • The prospective employee will be responsible for maintaining a septic truck and following all rules and regulations given by the DOT
